WHAT IS BRC (British Retail Consortium)

BRC (British Retail Consortium) is the leading trade organization in Great Britain, representing the full range in retail (the major British supermarkets such as Sainsbury's, Tesco, Marks & Spencer, ASDA etc.)

BRC-Global Standard-Food created by BRC to ensure supermarkets in return for Legislation for Food (Food safety Act 1990 and Directive 93/43/EEC - replaced by 852/2004/EK from 01.01 .2006) and inspect their suppliers based on a single standard, certifiable by independent bodies accredited in any part of the world, thereby reducing the cost evaluation of suppliers.

TO WHOM IT IS HEREBY ?

Certification to the BRC is now a prerequisite for companies wishing to export their products to the market of Great Britain and a significant advantage over non-certified suppliers.

Availability of the inspection report, which is the property of the company (getting a certificate or not) which may be a springboard for a business partnership with Super Market, even if not certified. It is available to the client to determine the significance or not of non-compliance.

WITH EUROCERT, WHY?

EUROCERT, EUROPEAN Inspection and Certification Company SA has been the first Greek Certification Body accredited to the BRC by UKAS) having available trained and experienced staff.

CERTIFICATION IN 9 STEPS:

  1. Application by the company concerned in the Secretariat of EUROCERT
  2. Defining mutually agreed date of inspection. Note that an important step in the convergence of business with the requirements of the standard is to conduct internal audit under the requirements of (Basic Requirement).
  3. HACCP - BRC Manual reviewed in by Inspectors.
  4. Inspection program in been sending in the company. The length of inspection is determined by the size and complexity of processes and products of the company.
  5. Inspection.
  6. Processing and closing potential non-conformities to a maximum of 28 days from the inspection in accordance with the requirements of the standard.
  7. Issue of certificate of compliance within 14 days from the date of closure of non-conformities.
  8. Issue inspection report not later than 42 days.
  9. Certificate in been sending to the company.
